The Delaware Rotary Club was privileged to have District Governor Steve Sandbo in attendance at today's meeting; Mr. Sandbo was accompanied by his wife Jill.  He shared with the club the achievements of the Polio Plus campaign. 2.7 billion People have been vaccinated and Rotary International has spent 11 billion dollars in the project. The result is that there are only 19 cases left in the world, down from 34 cases a year ago. In spite of the barriers left, he urged the club to support the continued fight.
Steve Sandbo, our 6690 District Governor (DG), has been a member of the Upper Arlington Rotary club since 2000. He has been involved in 13 service mission projects since 2010. He also was co-chairman of the District 6690 membership committee. His wife, Jill Sandbo, has traveled with the DG to share his theme of “Do what you need to do”. Mr. Sandbo wore his Red Converse All Star sneakers in honor of the 100th anniversary of Rotary and the 30th Anniversary of the Polio Plus campaign. The goal of his visit is to share the message of our current Rotary International President, John Germ, to stay relevant. As DG, he is looking to find the best practices from each club and to assist.

Mr. Sandbo also urged members to come to the National Conference in Atlanta this year. He shared with the club that there are changes in Rotary that are being done to create a platform of flexibility within the club. These changes hope to bring in and retain new memberships from the millennial sector.
Finally he asked the club members to: 1) ask non-Rotarians to come and help with one of our service projects, 2) support the 100th Anniversary of the Rotary Foundation this year and 3) help support change within our club.
